Type of machine

Physical

A physical machine is supplied by the client. It may either be standalone or rackable, 19 inches; its size determines the price of the hosting. GOSIS can supply a physical machine on request at a suitable price.

Virtual

A virtual machine can be provided either by the client or by GOSIS as a separate service.

Measurement unit

U

This unit is an international standard used to measure the height of a machine. 1 U = 44.45 millimetres. GOSIS uses this measurement for all machines.

VM

A standard virtual machine corresponds to 1 Virtual CPU and 3Gb of RAM.

GB

A gigabyte is the measurement unit used by GOSIS for anything relating to storage in GOSIS bays whether or not hosted by GOSIS.

Hosting by GOSIS
euros plus tax / month

Hosting by GOSIS comprises physical, software security, as well as a bandwidth of 10 Mb per U or VM. The energy consumed by the machines is invoiced at cost after the first three months during which it is included.

GOSIS N1 Services euros plus tax / month

Level 1 comprises infrastructure and scheduling change management services as well as the virtualisation software for the VM.

GOSIS N2 Services

PTSI

Level 2 comprises all the services linked to the transformation of an information system (PTSI) and the GOSIS SIED automation and industrialisation software. The PTSI aims to transform an information system, whatever its size and its complexity into an economical and environmentally-sound IT system.

The GOSIS model of immediate reduction of costs and of carbon footprints draws its inspiration from industry-standard methods, such as SIX SIGMA.

The choice of the target IT system is determined jointly by the customer and GOSIS. Clients may wish to test out the GOSIS approach using a pilot at first.

The mapping of the IT system is performed by the GOSIS Survey Centre on site. This enables GOSIS to ascertain the flows, to realise the operational criticalness and the goals and challenges to be met by the IT system. At the end of this mapping exercise, GOSIS confirms the commitments expressed in its initial proposal to cut costs and carbon footprints over the short, medium and long term.

The modelling of the existing system by GOSIS is the first technological step towards cutting costs by 50% and carbon footprints by 60% immediately. This step does not de facto imply outsourced hosting at a GOSIS Data Centre; the economical and environmental model is applicable internally as well and is scalable.

If the hosting is entrusted to GOSIS, the physical machines are measured in U (an industry-standard measurement unit for the height of a rackable physical machine). Standalone machines that are not rackable are measured by GOSIS using the same unit.

The GOSIS transformation plan is included in the services provided as part of all the plans. By automating an information system using the SIED application (designed and developed by GOSIS), this plan provides a means of transforming it into an economical and environmentally-sound information system. Thanks to monitoring of financial, technical and environmental parameters, one can witness in real time the match between the GOSIS' commitments and the reality on the ground. The duration of a transformation plan varies from 6 to 18 months depending on several criteria chosen by the client and GOSIS:
- The financial depreciation of the machines.
- The feasibility of the tests while not in production.
- The complexity and the heterogeneous nature of the IT system.

After the transformation plan an invoice is issued for services (OPEX), and then the aim is to reduce costs even beyond the commitments and thus achieve a zero carbon footprint.
